In august 2012 CliC will have been in Australia for 9 years. As I reflect on marketing activities for the coming year (or should I say current year) I got to thinking what an amazing 9 years it’s been. Not only personally, but globally and more specifically I’m thinking about the world wide web revolution. BLOGS didn’t exist 9 years ago, or if they did, we weren’t quite sure what that really meant for a business or a brand and how it might impact. We know that earthlings have a yearning to connect with other earthlings – through reality TV, via blogs and websites and other social media avenues. But what can this really mean to a brand? Can the art of blogging really boost my sales? And so I’ve decided to find out for myself.
The first question – and one I have ponderd for quite some time now is what would be the desired content for my CliC South Pacific audience? How can I entice these earthlings into my web, the clic web, and truly engage and maintain a following?
Possibly the single most enjoyable aspect of my business has been my involvement with the clic users. Endearingly known to those on the inside as clic chicks and (“ahem”) clic dicks. I have listened to their stories about their aging eye-sight, and how they keep losing their glasses….. as if they were the only person to ever have experienced it! Through this process I have built a data-base of people, pictures and heart-warming testimonials about them and what they do with their clic glasses. And finally (while I was thinking ALL this) I realised that CliC South Pacific is not only a brand and a company but more specifically, it is a community.
So there you have it, the subject of my BLOG will be the clic community…but I dare say I will have to change names and specifics….just to protect my ass! I’ll aim for a weekly blog……that seems to be the go, and today I will sign off by posting a pic of yours truly, the queen bee of clic chics, in one of my prouder moments, receiving an award at ODMAFAIR 2007 for “Best Display Booth System”
PS: I beging this experiment with 88 friends in my facebook community (http://www.facebook.com/clichic) and 51 likes on the clic australasia page (http://www.facebook.com/CliCAustralasia) . So If you like my idea and are interested in following, please go there and ‘like’ me OR ask to be my friend. This will be one measure of the success (or not) of this BLOG!!
